Reception - Ladybirds
Croeso i’r Dosbarth Derbyn
Welcome to a new and exciting term in Reception. We have already been very busy settling into our daily routines and enjoying our new Classroom environment. We are looking forward to getting to know each other and exploring our environment by learning and playing inside and outside together. We have already talked with the pupils about our new topic and are all very excited to share our ideas and information.
Our topic this half-term is ‘All About Us’
Our Big Question is…..‘Are we all the same?’
During the first half of this Autumn Term, we will be learning all about ourselves and each other. The children will be learning to ask questions and find answers, gaining confidence to talk and participate in pair and group tasks. We will find out about our likes and dislikes, our families and our community. We will talk about ourselves, families, friends and groups we belong to, as well as thinking about ‘real life’ heroes (people who help us in our community). This learning will be supported by some lovely stories including 'The Colour Monster', 'Percy the Park Keeper' and 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Our literacy lessons will be focused on our new scheme 'Monster Phonics', ORT reading books and we will begin to learn how to write short sentences. Maths lessons will concentrate on patterns, sorting, matching, comparing and counting to 20.
Helping your child:
Take an active role in your child’s education. (Please see the website links and documents at the end of this page to support you at home).
Share important information about your child with school e.g. medication, any changes that may affect their well-being.
We actively encourage an open door policy whereupon we are happy to discuss any questions or issues that may arise throughout the school year. We only ask that you try to do this at the end of the day so that we can give you the time you deserve. By working together we are sure that we will make your child's time in Reception a very productive and happy one!
