In our school the children are the most important people, therefore it is essential that they have a voice.
The School Council is open to all pupils from Year 1 to 6.
Job Description
To ensure the children of Gowerton are getting their rights
To listen to the views of other children
To make the school a better place by gathering the views of others
To meet regularly
To raise money for charitable organisations and for our school
To feedback outcomes of meeting to staff and pupils
To meet with the head teacher and negotiate change
To liase/ work collaboratively with local schools

School Council NEWS
Autumn Term
* Children who were interested in being part of the School Council have applied for the position by designing a poster/ creating a PowerPoint presentation, completing an application form explaining why they would make a good class representative. Each class held a ballot where children were able to vote for two candidates to represent their class. Thank you to all of the children who put themselves forward and prepared a presentation, bendigedig!
Congratulations and welcome to our successful candidates!
* Year 6 School Council members represented our school by attending the Remembrance Day service at Gowerton Comprehensive School.
* All School Council members led the procession for our school Remembrance Day service, walking with wreaths to be placed on our memorial bench before leading our school in a minute’s silence.
* School council members have organised their first fund raising event to raise money for this year’s BBC Children in Need, taking place on Friday 15th November. Thank you to all families who were able to support this charity.
* The children have been busy organising the School Council ‘jar stall’ for our annual Christmas Fayre where they will be helping to run the stall on the evening. Thank you for your very kind donations, please come along and support us after school on Thursday 28th November.
* Year 6 School Council representatives visited Gowerton Comprehensive School to take part in a cluster transition meeting with staff and Year 7 pupils.
* As the first term comes to a close, we met to discuss what is working well within our classes/ year groups and what changes could be made to improve aspects within our school.
SPRING TERM
* We met to discuss the new roles and responsibilities that some of the School Council representatives will hold for the remainder of the school year to help lead and organise our meetings.
