Croseo i’r Blwyddyn 1/2 – Welcome to Year 1/2!
Welcome back to a busy and exciting term in Year 1/2.
Our Big Question this half term is ‘Is Space Spectacular?'
We are looking forward to learning more about the World we live in and answering the questions that the children have generated about what they would like to find out. All planned activities will have the Four Purposes in mind and will help the children to develop many new skills. The children will also be encouraged to work independently to complete missions. Our Literacy lessons this half term will focus on Recount writing and our Maths lessons will be based on Place Value. There will also be a focus on Problem Solving (to help the children further develop their Reasoning skills) and the spelling of High Frequency Words. As always, we will be planning a range of exciting and engaging activities based around all six areas of learning.
What to expect when I am in Year 1/2:
- Become more independent.
- Use Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills with more confidence.
- Learn new skills and participate in a wide range of activities.
- Make lots of wonderful memories and most importantly have fun!
How you can help your child in Year 1/2:
- Encourage your child to become more independent where possible.
- Take an active role in your child’s education. (There are some useful website links and documents at the end of this page).
- Share important information about your child with me e.g. medication, any changes that may affect their well-being.
We actively encourage an open door policy whereupon we are happy to discuss any questions or issues that may arise throughout the school year. We only ask that you try to do this at the end of the day so that we can give you the time you deserve. By working together I am sure that we will make your child's time in the Ants class a very productive and happy one!
